A Lagos-based woman, Osarobo Odigie, has threatened legal action against TikTok content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, over claims of defamation, cyber harassment, and invasion of privacy, with damages put at N395 million.
The development was contained in a pre-action notice dated March 10, 2026, issued by her lawyer, Bola Osineye of FA Garrick & Co. The letter detailed an encounter that reportedly occurred on January 6, 2026, at Folixxx Lounge in Lekki.
According to the legal document, Odigie had visited the lounge to buy food when she was allegedly drawn into an altercation. Her lawyers stated that she was at the cashier area when Peller’s loud behaviour disrupted the environment.
“Our client was present at Folixxx Lounge… for the purpose of purchasing food. While standing at the counter/cashier area, our client was suddenly startled by your loud outburst directly behind her.
“You aggressively approached her and proceeded to instruct her to ‘shut up’. When she requested that you moderate yourself in a public space, you immediately resorted to verbal abuse, including but not limited to Yoruba curses,” the letter read.
The claimant’s legal team alleged that after she cautioned him about his conduct, he responded with insults and offensive remarks. They also accused the influencer of recording the incident without her consent and distributing the footage across several social media platforms.
“You proceeded to escalate the situation by producing your mobile phone and using the same to record our client without her consent. You thereafter published the video on your Snapchat, WhatsApp, TikTok, Instagram and other social media platforms, causing public ridicule of our client,” the letter added.
The lawyers argued that the viral video exposed Odigie to public embarrassment, online harassment, and emotional strain, worsened by the influencer’s large digital audience.
“Our client has suffered significant emotional distress and has developed genuine fears for her safety.
“Owing to your substantial online presence and following as a streamer and public influencer, the video went viral almost immediately… triggering thousands of comments, many of which reiterated and amplified your defamatory remarks against her,” the letter stated.

As part of her demands, Odigie is seeking N200 million for alleged defamatory publication, N100 million for emotional and reputational damage, N75 million for distress linked to cyberbullying and threats, and N20 million for legal expenses.
She is also requesting that the video be removed from all platforms and that Peller issue a public apology across his social media accounts as well as in two national newspapers.
“You are required to issue a clear, unequivocal, and public apology to our client across all platforms where the defamatory content was published,” the lawyers said.
Although the TikToker had earlier issued an apology on January 9, admitting his actions were out of character, the claimant’s legal team maintains that further steps must be taken. They warned that failure to meet the demands within seven days would lead to the matter being taken to court.
“Should you fail, refuse, or neglect to comply… our client shall, without further recourse to you, institute appropriate legal proceedings against you,” the letter stated.
