Veteran juju music icon, Ebenezer Obey, is set to celebrate his 84th birthday with a special two-day gospel crusade in Abeokuta, Ogun State, scheduled for March 25 and 26, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The event, themed “Thy Kingdom Come”, will be hosted in partnership with the Riye Council of Knights of the Methodist Church Nigeria, Egba Diocese. Several gospel ministers, including Esther Igbekele, Joseph Adelakun, and Adegbemi Adewale, are expected to perform during the celebration.

Obey revealed that the crusade will feature outreach initiatives aimed at supporting underprivileged communities as part of the birthday commemoration.

“Since my birthday on April 3, 2026, coincides with Good Friday and Easter, I have decided to keep the celebration low key this year,” the music legend said. He also expressed appreciation for the love and support he continues to receive from fans and well-wishers globally, promising to mark a grander milestone next year.

The juju maestro, fondly called the “Chief Commander,” is celebrated as one of the pioneers of modern juju music in Nigeria. Since the 1960s, he has produced timeless records that combine Yoruba proverbs, social commentary, and intricate instrumentation.

In recent years, Obey has traditionally marked his birthdays with thanksgiving services, gospel concerts, and philanthropic activities, reflecting his dedication to both music and community service.
