The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the arrival of 147 Nigerian migrants returning from Niamey, Niger Republic, as part of efforts to support citizens coming back from abroad.

The returnees landed at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport on March 5, 2026, at approximately 12:19 p.m., aboard a Sky Mali Airline flight.

In a statement on Friday, NEMA’s Kano Operations Office highlighted that the reception was carried out in partnership with multiple stakeholders, including the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, the Nigerian Red Cross Society, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and other agencies.

“The profiling exercise was conducted on March 6, 2026,” the statement read, noting that the group included 136 male adults, five female adults, three male children, and three female children.

NEMA emphasised that the successful execution of the operation was due to seamless coordination among the participating agencies.

“The collaborative efforts of all stakeholders ensured the exercise was well-coordinated, successful, and hitch-free,” the agency said.
