Afrobeats sensation Tiwa Savage has launched a new initiative aimed at supporting young creatives, revealing that 100 promising talents have been selected for specialised training through the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation.

The singer introduced the foundation on Monday evening in Lagos as part of efforts to help develop upcoming talents and improve key areas of Nigeria’s music industry.

The launch ceremony took place at The Delborough Lagos and drew several high-profile guests, including music stars, business leaders and government officials.

Notable personalities present included Don Jazzy, Mo Abudu, Johnny Drille and Cobhams Asuquo.

Also in attendance were Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Florence Ita-Giwa, Daisy Danjuma and Shade Okoya.

During the event, Savage explained that the foundation was created to help address gaps in education and infrastructure within the country’s music space.

“We have so much talent in Nigeria, but we must build infrastructure and invest in education so that when people see our talent, they also see access,” she said.

She noted that the programme would cover several sectors within the music industry, including film scoring, music publishing, music therapy, production and sound engineering.

According to the singer, the initiative will provide participants with professional training and exposure to global standards in the music business.

Savage revealed that the first set of participants will take part in a four-day intensive training programme organised in collaboration with Berklee College of Music.

“The opportunity is already paid for. So, my advice is to use it wisely because opportunity favours the prepared,” she said.

“This is the first of many years. If you don’t get in this year, you will have the chance to prepare for the next editions.”

Savage also emphasised the importance of government involvement in advancing the creative sector.

“In anything you do, you will always need the support and blessing of the government,” she said.

Speaking at the event, Lagos State governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said he attended the launch to celebrate Savage and show support for her initiative.

“You know what it is about. Today is her day. She’s one of our best, so I have to support her,” the governor said.

Also sharing his thoughts, Bolaji Idowu said the initiative would bring encouragement and opportunities to aspiring creatives.

“It will bring smiles to people and provide the right strategy for rising in the industry,” he said.

Singer Johnny Drille also praised Savage’s impact on the industry.

“Tiwa has been an amazing artiste for over a decade, and it is inspiring to see her bring something incredible to the Nigerian music scene,” he said.

Media entrepreneur Mo Abudu said she was delighted to attend the launch and celebrate Savage’s new project.

“I’m really inspired to celebrate with my darling Tiwa Savage tonight. I have known her for years, and we have worked on several projects,” she said.

Abudu added that the foundation would help groom young talents and support the next generation of Nigerian music stars.

“If you can think it, you can do it,” she advised young creatives.

Also speaking, Folasade Okoya, Chief Executive Officer of Eleganza Group, congratulated Savage and expressed confidence that the initiative would make a lasting impact on the music industry.

The Tiwa Savage Music Foundation is designed to provide mentorship, education and international exposure to young creatives seeking careers in different aspects of the music business.
