The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has announced plans to investigate allegations of child sexual abuse and misconduct reportedly connected to a daycare centre owned by the mother of Nigerian singer Simi Kosoko.
This comes amid renewed public outrage after an old tweet by the singer resurfaced, prompting some users on X to claim it hinted at inappropriate behaviour involving children at the facility.
In a statement shared on its official X page, NAPTIP urged members of the public with reliable details about the matter to come forward, assuring confidentiality.
“Public Notice: We take all reports of child sexual abuse/misconduct seriously and are committed to investigating every credible claim,” the agency stated.
It added, “Following recent public discussions and concerns raised regarding alleged incidents of child sexual abuse/misconduct in daycare settings in Nigeria, we are committed to thoroughly investigating credible report.
“We kindly request anyone with factual information, evidence, direct knowledge, or who was personally affected by the matters referenced in the viral posts or related experiences to kindly reach out to us confidentially. Via DM or email us info@naptip.gov.ng.”

NAPTIP stressed that a comprehensive investigation would begin once verifiable reports are received, reiterating its resolve to address all claims involving child welfare and safety in daycare environments.
Meanwhile, Simi has strongly denied the allegations, clarifying that the resurfaced tweets were simply playful expressions from her younger years and carried no hidden or inappropriate meaning. She insisted that the posts were never intended to suggest any form of misconduct and maintained that she has nothing to hide.
