Ex-Big Brother Naija star Natasha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, has cautioned about the dangers of false rape allegations, stressing their detrimental impact on actual victims.

In an Instagram video shared Thursday, Tacha referred to the recent incident involving TikTok user Mirabel, who confessed to making up a rape claim.

“Rape is a very serious issue. Women should never weaponise rape for any reason, because at the end of the day, you are taking away from the real victims,” she said.

Tacha explained that false accusations not only make it harder for genuine survivors to be believed but also embolden rape apologists.

She added, “If any girl comes out to accuse a guy falsely of raping her, I honestly think she should be taught a lesson.”

While acknowledging that mental health challenges may contribute to some cases, she stressed that consequences are crucial to underline the gravity of false allegations.

“I am not going to back down from the fact that women still do get raped. I am not going back down from the fact that there are real victims out there,” Tacha affirmed.

She also highlighted the emotional strain false claims place on both the accused and society, noting they “toy with your mental health,” while reiterating the need to safeguard true victims.
