Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has spoken out following the controversy surrounding her viral video praising the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), stating clearly that she was neither paid nor influenced by politics.
The video, which highlighted recent upgrades at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, sparked mixed reactions online, especially in light of Ojo’s previous political activism. Many social media users questioned her motives, prompting official clarifications.
Addressing the situation, FAAN’s Managing Director, Olubunmi Kuku, denied reports suggesting the actress had been contracted or appointed as an ambassador.
“Iyabo Ojo was not ‘awarded a gig’ by FAAN, nor is she an Ambassador. She was only asked to raise awareness on transformational initiatives under this same Tinubu administration at the airport while shooting a movie scene. There was no financial incentive,” she stated.
In her own response, Ojo took to Instagram to explain that her decision to speak positively about the airport stemmed from patriotism.
“I’m Nigerian. And I’m a voice. When I see progress — airports upgraded, roads rebuilt, systems improved — I shout it from the rooftops, if need be, not because I’m paid, not because I’m political, but because I feel it and I want good for my country,” she wrote.
She further revealed that while filming a movie scene at the airport, FAAN requested her assistance in sharing visible improvements.
“FAAN approached me: You’ve seen the changes, please help us spread the word. So I did. FOR FREE. No fee. No contract. Just love for Nigeria,” she said.

Ojo stressed that her loyalty is to Nigeria and not to any political ideology.
“I praise GOOD — not government, and if the government does good, I’ll praise them too. My loyalty? To my country. Always.”
She concluded by expressing her openness to working with any political group focused on national development.
“I’ll work with any political party — as long as it’s about building a better tomorrow for our dear nation. No hate. No agenda. Just hands joined.”
