Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has reiterated his backing for President Bola Tinubu, praising the President’s administration for what he described as the birth of a “new Nigeria” and a record of achievements in less than three years.
Sanwo-Olu made the remarks on Wednesday at Oregun, Ikeja, during the swearing-in of 20 local government coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA) in Lagos State, an initiative aimed at highlighting the accomplishments of the Tinubu administration.
The launch comes amid increasing political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 elections, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) seeking re-election, while opposition parties, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, aim to wrest power from the ruling party. Calls for electoral reforms, including electronic transmission of results, are also intensifying ahead of the polls.
The RHA programme is expected to expand to the remaining 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos. To support mobilisation, 20 branded buses featuring the Renewed Hope Agenda logo and President Tinubu’s image were distributed to the coordinators.
The event was attended by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, Chief of Staff Tayo Ayinde, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, alongside other government officials, APC chieftains, traditional leaders, and community representatives.
Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu tasked the coordinators with propagating the achievements of the President, stating that Tinubu deserved a second term.
“What we have just witnessed is the swearing-in and administration of the oath of allegiance to the 20 local government coordinators of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors. We have not commenced any form of campaign.

“This is an activation of commitment and association of like minds. It is an activation of a slogan of Renewed Hope. It is a coming together of the ambassadors to propagate the achievements of the President. They want to propagate with their flags to let people be aware of what he is doing,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu added, “The Renewed Hope Ambassadors have chosen to go to every ward and propagate; it is a choice. President Tinubu’s achievements are too numerous to count. As the governor of the state, together with the supporters, we are ready to give him our support for a second term in office.
“The man has birthed a new Nigeria for us. I know too well he has reduced the debt burden of the country; this man has stabilised the economy; this man has given a new minimum wage to Nigerian workers; this man is providing infrastructure; this man has brought down inflation; this man has reduced the prices of foodstuffs.
“He has engaged in a lot of international relationships to bring in investments. I know what investors have brought into Lagos. He is ensuring that there is development in all the nooks and crannies of the country. If that is what they don’t like, I will say, for me, let him continue. So, I will encourage the ambassadors to go and propagate Mr President’s achievements.”
On the APC e-registration drive, Sanwo-Olu noted, “We are number one in the e-registration, but we are not there yet. Lagos will show our strong support for the President at the grassroots.” He also urged the coordinators to make full use of the vehicles provided for mobilisation.
South-West Renewed Hope Coordinator, Senator Dayo Adeyeye, praised the selected coordinators, saying, “You are extremely lucky because you have entered the boat that will lead Nigeria to victory. By God’s grace, we shall sail safely to the harbour. This is the best President Nigeria has ever had. We are not afraid of the election because we are sure of winning. I know what is worrying them; it is jealousy because of the achievements of Mr President.”
Sunday Akere, a coordinator from Osun State, reiterated that the initiative is not a campaign, but a grassroots mobilisation effort. “When you get prepared, you get results. The RHA is all over the country. Coordinators are to spread the gospel. We have to do political outreach and mobilisation.”
Chief Tayo Ayinde, Lagos coordinator of the RHA, explained, “It is a national movement of engagement and responsibilities that must be felt at the grassroots. It is to strengthen public confidence. It is not a campaign organisation, but a mandate to pass across the message to communities, markets, schools, and the grassroots by communicating the President’s achievements to the people.”
Japhet Odesanya, representing Ikorodu Local Government Area coordinators, assured the party of their commitment, stating, “We will go to all the nooks and crannies of the state to propagate what Mr President has done. We are not going to disappoint; we will deliver.”
