Nollywood star Faithia Williams has announced the heartbreaking loss of her mother, revealing that the death occurred just hours before the party organised to celebrate her 55th birthday.
The actress made the disclosure in a touching Instagram post on Monday, explaining that she only became aware of the tragedy after the celebration. According to her, family members shielded her from the painful news so she could enjoy her special day.
Faithia stated that although her birthday was on Thursday, February 5, she decided to hold the celebration on Sunday, unaware that her mother had passed away the day before. She described her late mother as a constant source of encouragement, strength, and companionship.
“Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5. However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday,” she wrote.
“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party, and the news was cruelly kept away from me.
“The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother.”
While she did not reveal the cause of death, the actress said the family has chosen to grieve privately for now, requesting prayers and support from the public.

“Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later.”
The devastating news comes less than two years after Faithia also lost her father, whose death she announced in April 2024, making the period particularly painful for the actress and her family.
