The Lagos State Number Plate Production Authority (LSNPPA) has advised motorists across the state to take better care of their vehicle number plates to ensure visibility and durability.
The advice was shared in a post on the official Lagos State X account on Friday, following a meeting between the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LSNPPA, Mr Olayanju Cole, and officials of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), led by its General Manager and CEO, Afolabi Solebo.
Addressing the issue, Cole stressed the importance of keeping number plates in good condition, reminding motorists that “your number plate is your identity on the road.”

The discussion centred on growing concerns about faded, damaged, and unreadable number plates, with emphasis placed on the need for vehicle owners to replace worn-out or faulty plates with new, standardised ones approved by the Lagos State Government.
Cole also warned motorists against using harsh chemical substances to clean their number plates. He noted that materials such as aromatic solvents, alcohol-based spirits, acetone, petrol, brake oil, kerosene, and abrasive cleaning tools could damage the plates and reduce their legibility.
Meanwhile, LASCOPA reaffirmed its dedication to safeguarding the rights of motorists and improving service standards across Lagos State.
