Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar witnessed a double celebration on Friday as two of his children were married in separate ceremonies held at the National Mosque, Abuja.
The weddings drew relatives, close associates and prominent guests. Atiku’s daughter, Hafsat Atiku, was formally joined in marriage to Umar Farouk Imam, with General Aliyu Gusau standing in as the representative who gave her hand in marriage. Gusau is a long-time friend and associate of the Abubakar family.
On the same day, Atiku’s son, Abubakar Atiku Jr, also exchanged marital vows with Asma’u Abdul’aziz Nyako. Their union was officiated by Alhaji Kwairanga Jada, another trusted friend of the family.
Reflecting on the occasion in a message shared via his X page, the former vice president described the ceremonies as a source of great joy and appreciation, particularly for the support shown by guests and well-wishers.
“I have no doubt that these marriages will further strengthen the longstanding family ties established with my older brother, Admiral Murtala Nyako, and my friend, Kashim Ibrahim Imam,” Atiku said.

He also expressed gratitude to those who attended and contributed to the success of the event, adding, “I am thankful to all guests who graced the occasion and supported making this day a reality. I congratulate my children and their spouses and wish them a happy marriage.”
Atiku noted that beyond the celebration, the unions symbolised enduring relationships between families that have shared close bonds over the years.
