An unexpected and emotional moment reportedly disrupted the burial ceremony of late gospel singer Omije Ojumi on Tuesday after a man claiming to be the biological father of her child placed a phone call during the funeral rites.
A video of the incident, which has since gone viral on social media, showed mourners dressed in white as they gathered to lay the singer to rest when the call came through.
According to reports, the man said he wanted to pay his final respects to Omije Ojumi before speaking directly with the children. During the call, he identified himself as their father and alleged that he had been trying unsuccessfully for years to reach them, claiming their mother prevented him from having access.
“I’m your daddy and I’ve been looking for you. If you remember, I called your school years back when you were at Front Liner,” the man said during the call.
“I spoke to you through the school line and told you not to tell your mummy because she wouldn’t allow me talk to you. I don’t know how she found out, but she took police to arrest all the teachers in the school,” he added.
The daughter did not personally answer the call. Instead, a family member reportedly placed the phone on speaker to allow her hear what the man had to say, as emotions ran high at the burial ground.

Omije Ojumi passed away after battling a prolonged illness. She was laid to rest amid tears, tributes, and emotional moments celebrating her life, music, and dedication as a mother.
