Nollywood director Biodun Stephen has once again spoken out against what she describes as a growing trend of women appearing in public without underwear.
In a TikTok video, Stephen expressed her frustration, revealing that she has consistently addressed the issue since 2015 and is concerned it is increasingly becoming normalized.
She recounted a recent encounter at a salon where a woman came in for a pedicure wearing a short outfit. According to Stephen, the attire left the woman’s private parts “in full display” as she sat down, creating an uncomfortable situation.
“I first spoke about ladies not wearing pants back in 2015. Let’s try to always wear pants, there are several types. Why don’t we like wearing pants?” she said.
“Last week, I went to get my hair done at the salon. A lady came in to do her pedicure. As she sat, I looked at her side, I saw her vagina in full display.”

Stephen described the moment as unnecessary for a public space and criticised the practice as more of a nuisance than a fashion statement.
“Who is teaching us all these fashion? Is it a fashion trend not to wear pant?” she asked.
“You are coming for a pedicure, you would at least wear something long. Must you wear mini gown or skirt without pant? Why is pant your enemy? Who told you pant is your enemy? Who told you it isn’t good for you? Please stop doing it. This is not fashion, it is nuisance.”
The filmmaker has previously addressed this issue. In August 2025, following a widely reported incident involving a female passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, she highlighted the importance of wearing underwear, particularly in situations where physical exposure could occur.
