The Ogun State Government on Monday revealed that a Lagos-based medical doctor has been remanded in prison for allegedly issuing a falsified medical report intended to help internet activist Adetoun Onajobi, popularly known as @justadetoun, avoid police questioning.

The disclosure came in a statement from the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwasina Ogungbade, SAN.

According to the statement, “Adetoun, an internet personality, has for years been accused of bullying, harassment, and using offensive language against individuals online.”

The issue escalated following an accident involving former boxing champion Anthony Joshua in Ogun State. In response, Onajobi allegedly posted videos claiming the state lacked ambulance services and accused Governor Dapo Abiodun of prioritizing partying in Ghana and impregnating women instead of attending to the boxer’s welfare.

Ogungbade described these claims as “false, malicious, and misleading,” noting that Ogun State operates multiple state-owned and supported ambulance services.

Following this, the state reported Onajobi to the police for alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, 2015.

“The police reportedly invited the social critic for questioning on January 5, 2026, after issuing a notice on January 2. However, she reportedly failed to appear and allegedly went into hiding, despite boasting earlier that she had evidence to substantiate her claims,” the statement added.

Even while evading the authorities, Onajobi reportedly released another video claiming she was ill. Subsequently, her lawyer submitted a medical report from a Lagos-based doctor, stating that she was medically indisposed.

Police investigations later revealed the report to be fraudulent. The doctor allegedly confessed that he had “never met, examined, treated, or revived Adetoun,” contrary to the claims in the document. He has since been arrested, charged, and remanded for issuing a fraudulent medical report and obstructing justice, while investigations continue to identify other accomplices. Onajobi remains at large.

Ogungbade questioned why Onajobi, who claimed to possess evidence, could not present it to law enforcement or publicly, adding that the forgery “raised serious concerns about her credibility.”

Confirming the development, Oluseyi Babaseyi, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, said the doctor was arraigned before a magistrate court in Abeokuta on charges of conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstructing the course of justice.

The police stated that the report, attached to a letter from Onajobi’s lawyer claiming she was medically unfit for questioning, “detailed several medical challenges purportedly suffered by the suspect and the efforts made to treat and stabilise her.”

However, investigations confirmed that the claims were false. The doctor reportedly admitted, “the entire medical report was a ruse, crafted at the direction of the suspect, Adetoun Onajobi, during a phone conversation between them, facilitated by her lawyer.”

Onajobi, who hails from Ilisan Remo in Ikenne Local Government Area, had posted several videos criticizing Governor Abiodun over alleged inaction following the December 29 accident that involved Anthony Joshua and resulted in the deaths of two of his friends. She claimed the government failed to provide ambulances and prioritized purchasing SUVs for local government chairmen over urgent public needs.

The case remains under investigation.
