The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of hip-hop singer Adesina Afeez, popularly known as Destiny Boy.
Babaseyi Oluseyi, the command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the development in a brief message to journalists on Monday.
Reports of the singer’s death first emerged on Sunday, with a viral video showing his body being transported to a mortuary spreading widely on social media. The footage sparked grief and widespread speculation about the cause of his passing.
Oluseyi stated that the case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the 22-year-old artiste’s death.

He said, “The Ogun State Police Command has commenced investigations into the death of Adesina Afeez, aged 22 years, popularly known as Destiny Boy. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Homicide Section, for detailed investigation. One suspect is currently in custody while investigations are ongoing.”
Destiny Boy’s death has drawn comparisons to previous high-profile cases in the Nigerian music industry. In 2023, the passing of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, also ignited nationwide outrage and protests demanding justice.
The police assured the public that further updates will be provided as investigations continue.
