The Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Chris Okafor, did not comply with a police invitation over allegations of multiple rape and other offences that could disrupt public order.

Okafor was summoned to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Panti to appear before the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge by 10:00 a.m. on Monday.

The invitation followed several complaints regarding alleged sexual offences and other acts capable of causing public unrest.

Police Public Relations Officer Abimbola Adebisi stated on Sunday that the Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, had ordered a thorough investigation into the allegations.

An officer at SCID, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told PUNCH on Monday that Okafor failed to show up. “After the CP’s directive on Sunday, the DCP immediately instructed the office handling such a case to debrief him, but they waited and did not see him. It is evening already, and he is obviously not coming here today.”

Another police source revealed that Okafor reportedly sent representatives to request more time. “We received calls from some people who appealed on his behalf, asking the police authorities to give him more time. They gave assurances that he would still show up. That is the information I have for now,” the source said.

The police confirmed that adequate security had been provided for the alleged victims and urged them to report to the SCID, Panti, where investigations have begun. The identities of victims and witnesses will remain confidential throughout the process. However, PUNCH Metro learned that no alleged victims or witnesses came forward for questioning. “None of the victims or witnesses also showed up at the SCID for interrogation,” the police added.

The allegations against Okafor emerged on social media in mid-December 2025. Nollywood actress Doris Ogala claimed in a series of Instagram videos posted on December 14 that she had been in a long-term sexual relationship with the pastor since 2017. She accused him of breaking marriage promises, sharing explicit content, and contributing to the breakdown of her previous marriage.

Amid mounting public outrage, Okafor reportedly addressed his congregation on New Year’s Day, apologising for past “mistakes” and kneeling at the pulpit to seek forgiveness.

The scandal has reportedly prompted the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria to consider disciplinary action against him. Meanwhile, the pastor is said to have stepped aside from his pastoral duties as investigations and public scrutiny continue.
