Former world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua was seen on Sunday at the London Central Mosque, where he joined family members and loved ones to honour two of his close associates who recently died.
The British-Nigerian boxer attended the funeral prayers for his personal trainer, Kevin Latif Ayodele, and his strength and conditioning coach, Sina Ghami. Both men lost their lives in a tragic car accident in Nigeria last week.
The crash occurred on December 29 along the Lagos–Ibadan expressway. Joshua, who was also involved, sustained minor injuries and was treated before being discharged from hospital on New Year’s Eve. He returned to the United Kingdom on Saturday.
Photos and video clips from the solemn service, which have since gone viral on social media, captured Joshua dressed in black as he stood quietly among other mourners, taking part in the Islamic burial rites.
Earlier, the 36-year-old boxer shared emotional images of himself with the bereaved families of Ghami and Ayodele, accompanied by the caption: “My Brother’s Keeper ❤️🕊️❤️.”
Meanwhile, Nigerian police have confirmed that Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, the driver involved in the fatal crash, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving and driving without a valid licence. The charges were filed by the Ogun State Police Command on Friday.

A magistrate’s court has adjourned the case until January 20. Although bail was granted in the sum of ₦5 million, the suspect remains in custody pending the fulfilment of the bail conditions.
Despite being born in England, Joshua maintains close ties with Nigeria and frequently visits his hometown of Sagamu in Ogun State. During a visit last year, he spent time with celebrities and presented President Bola Tinubu with a signed boxing glove.
Joshua’s most recent trip came just days after he defeated Jake Paul by knockout in an exhibition heavyweight bout at the Kaseya Centre in Miami.
