A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday in Yakasawa village, Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State, involving a Golf 3 wagon and a Sienna, leaving seven people dead and 14 others injured.

The crash happened in the afternoon as residents and travellers moved through the area. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with severely damaged vehicles and scattered victims.

Haruna Aliyu, a resident of Yakasawa, told our correspondent: “Vehicles were mangled, and bodies were scattered. I’ve never seen such a terrible accident in this area before; it’s really sad.”

Another witness, Isya Garba, who helped rescue survivors, said: “It was a terrible sight. People were crying and screaming. Please, drivers should be careful, lives are at stake.”

Ibrahim Hamisu, who also observed the aftermath, expressed sympathy for the victims’ families, stating: “My heart goes out to the families of the victims, may Allah comfort them.”

SP Adam added that seven people lost their lives on the spot, while 14 others were hospitalised and are currently receiving medical attention. He also noted that the investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Emphasising the importance of road safety, SP Adam urged drivers to exercise caution, saying: “Road safety is everyone’s responsibility, let’s work together to prevent such accidents.”
