Zaynab Ngohemba, formerly known as Zaynab Otiti Obanor, has addressed public curiosity surrounding her recent marriage to George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), describing their union as a partnership founded on maturity, shared goals, and mutual understanding.
The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony a few weeks ago, an event that has since attracted widespread attention.
In a statement released by her media aide, David Adeoye, and published by ThisDay, Zaynab emphasized that the marriage reflects a coming together of two individuals already committed to public service rather than a reinvention of their personal paths.
“It is a partnership shaped by maturity, shared purpose, and an understanding that personal stability strengthens public duty,” the statement reads.
“Their partnership represents the meeting of two lives already devoted to public purpose. It is not a reinvention of either individual, but a reinforcement of shared values: humility, discipline, empathy, and responsibility.”

Adeoye highlighted the symbolic significance of the union, especially at a time when Nigerians are demanding integrity, empathy, and accountability from their leaders. He noted that the couple exemplifies a leadership model that balances authority with compassion, and structure with genuine service.

Zaynab was previously married to Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, in March 2016, with the marriage ending in separation in 2017. During her 17-month marriage to the monarch, she held the title Olori Wuraola.
