Police in Lagos have apprehended a popular phone dealer in the Ikorodu area, known simply as Dada, following a violent attack on hairdresser Omowunmi Fowora.
The incident reportedly occurred after the victim refused to pay a festive levy known locally as “Christmas money” or Owo Odun.
Dada, described as a notorious troublemaker and alleged member of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), allegedly led a group of individuals to collect money from shop owners and traders. During the confrontation, he reportedly attacked Fowora, stabbing her with a broken bottle.
The Lagos State Police Command’s image maker, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrest to the Nigerian Tribune, noting that the suspect would face court proceedings once investigations are complete.
A local source, who requested anonymity, provided insight into the incident, saying the victim owns a salon behind the BRT park in Ikorodu, while Dada operates a phone and accessories shop nearby. The source explained that the two were not on speaking terms prior to the attack.

“After some time, the woman discontinued the exchange of words with Dada and returned to her shop to attend to her customers,” the source recounted.
It was at this point that the suspect allegedly picked up a bottle, broke it, and stabbed Fowora in the head and arms before fleeing the scene. The attack was promptly reported to the Ikorodu Police Station, and a medical report was issued to the injured hairdresser to facilitate treatment.
SP Adebisi confirmed the suspect remains in police custody, saying, “The suspect has been arrested and is still being detained at the Ikorodu Police Station. He will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.”
