Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu, has been honoured with the traditional title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland following a chieftaincy installation by the Alaafin of Oyo, Abimbola Owoade.
The ceremony was held on Sunday at the historic Alaafin’s palace in Oyo town, Oyo State, drawing prominent political leaders, traditional rulers and government officials from across the country.
Tinubu, a businessman known for his involvement in entrepreneurship and youth-oriented initiatives, has in recent years featured prominently at several official and political engagements alongside the president.
His wife, Layal Tinubu, was also recognised during the event, as she was installed as the Yeye Okanlomo of Yorubaland.

In the same ceremony, Abdul’aziz Yari, former governor of Zamfara State and current senator representing Zamfara West, received a chieftaincy title as he was installed as the Obaloyin of Yorubaland.
High-profile attendees included Senate President Godswill Akpabio; Senator Gbenga Daniel of Ogun East; and members of the House of Representatives led by Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
The event also attracted members of the Federal Executive Council, senior government officials and traditional rulers from different parts of Nigeria as well as the Republic of Benin. Among those present were Bayo Adelabu, minister of power; Adeyemo Adeniran, statistician-general of the federation; Olawale Edun, minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy; and Teslim Folarin, the Agba-Akin Olubadan of Ibadanland.
