Nollywood actor Taye Arimoro has strongly disputed his indefinite suspension by the industry’s leading guilds, describing their statement as “inaccurate” and promising to challenge the ruling in court.
The controversy centers on an alleged physical altercation on the set of Pieces of Love involving producer Peggy Ovire. Arimoro claims the incident occurred after he attempted to leave the set once his scheduled call time ended. He alleged that Ovire blocked his vehicle, resulting in detention and an assault by her team.
Arimoro is seeking N100 million in compensation from Ovire, dismissing her account of events as “grossly misleading,” while Ovire maintains that Arimoro was the aggressor.

Following an investigation, the joint panel of the Directors Guild of Nigeria (DGN), Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), and the Association of Movie Producers (AMP) directed Arimoro to issue a public apology to Ovire and the director, release a corrective video clarifying the actual sequence of events, and complete the remaining scenes under supervision.
Reacting to the suspension, Arimoro wrote, “To be honest, the statement given doesn’t capture the facts of the matter in any way, shape, or form! My management and legal team are aware of this, and I will provide a comprehensive response tomorrow. My legal team is also proceeding with the necessary action to address these unfounded claims.”
He assured that his legal representatives are already handling the matter and vowed a detailed rebuttal in due course.
