President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to end terrorism in Nigeria while deepening diplomatic relations with international partners.
Speaking on Thursday before the Federal Executive Council went into a closed-door session at the Aso Rock Villa, Abuja, Tinubu assured that his government is engaging with the global community to secure peace and stability.
“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” the President stated.
Thursday’s gathering marked the council’s first meeting since July.
Tinubu’s remarks follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent decision to classify Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” — a move the Federal Government has dismissed as an inaccurate portrayal of the nation’s security reality.

Addressing the issue for the first time, Tinubu emphasized that his administration is maintaining active diplomatic engagements to promote security, economic growth, and international cooperation.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3bn Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he said.
The president reaffirmed that Nigeria remains steadfast in its pursuit of peace, unity, and prosperity, commending members of his cabinet for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu urged continued collaboration and focus among his ministers, stressing the importance of collective effort in implementing reforms aimed at rebuilding the economy and restoring public confidence.
