The Department of State Services (DSS) has dismissed 115 of its personnel as part of ongoing internal reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism within the agency.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the DSS announced that the affected officers were relieved of their duties “over a period of time,” and warned Nigerians to beware of ex-operatives still posing as active staff.
“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services, the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.
The agency raised concerns that despite previous public warnings about two dismissed officials — Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin — some former staff continue to impersonate serving DSS officers to defraud unsuspecting citizens.

“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealing with these individuals who have been dismissed by the service,” the DSS cautioned.
According to the agency, the names of all dismissed personnel have been published on its official website for transparency and verification.
The DSS had earlier, in October, issued disclaimers against Donald and Godwin, who were accused of using the agency’s name to commit fraud. Both men, the statement confirmed, have since been arrested and will face prosecution.
