Nigerian Afrobeat star Yemi Alade has opened up about a time in her life when lying about her age led her into depression.
In an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, the multiple award-winning singer revealed that she spent three years telling people she was 22, only to later realise she was actually 25.
Yemi explained that the truth hit her hard, leaving her mentally unsettled as she tried to process the fact that she had been deceiving herself.
“There was a time someone asked me how old I was, and for about three years I kept saying 22. Then one day I calculated it and realised I was already 25,” she recounted.
