The Gombe State Police Command on Wednesday apprehended a 15-year-old boy, Abubakar Aliyu, from Tudun Wada Shamaki Quarters, for allegedly carrying out multiple armed robberies and thefts within the Federal Low-Cost area of Gombe Metropolis.

The arrest followed a swift police investigation launched after a robbery incident was reported on October 15, 2025.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed in a statement that the suspect’s capture led to the recovery of several valuable items, including an iPhone 13 Pro Max, Apple MacBook laptop, Apple Watch, Oraimo Power Bank, and a pink school bag.

According to the statement, “On October 15, 2025, at about 1100hrs, a female resident of Federal Low-Cost, Gombe, reported that on the same date, at about 0230hrs, she was attacked by an unknown person armed with a knife who robbed her of her personal belongings. These include an iPhone 13 Pro Max valued at N800,000, an Apple MacBook laptop valued at N250,000, an Apple Watch valued at N35,000, an Oraimo Power Bank valued at N30,000, and a pink school bag valued at N25,000.”

Abdullahi explained that officers from the Divisional Police Headquarters quickly responded, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of all stolen items.

“The suspect voluntarily confessed to the crime,” he said. “He further revealed that on 8th October, 2025, he conspired with one Hadi (surname unknown), now at large, and broke into another female victim’s residence at Federal Low-Cost, where they stole several items.”

The police spokesperson listed the items stolen during the second burglary, which included “a Samsung Fold 3 valued at N800,000, a Black View Tab 80 valued at N140,000, two rings worth N40,000, a counter valued at N20,000, and a car key.”

Abdullahi noted that some of these items, including the Samsung Fold 3 and Black View Tab 80, have already been recovered, while efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing accomplice.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Yahaya, praised the officers for their rapid response and professionalism, describing the arrest as a “significant breakthrough” in the command’s fight against violent crime.

“The command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety of lives and property across the state. I urge members of the public to support the police by providing timely and useful information that can aid in the prevention and detection of crimes,” the CP said.

He also advised residents to remain alert and to report any suspicious persons or activities promptly to the nearest police station.
