Actress Omowunmi Ajiboye has set the record straight about her relationship with colleague Segun Ogungbe, saying they were never married or even engaged.
In an interview with Oyinmomo TV, the Yoruba film star said contrary to public belief, Segun never met her family and no formal introduction ever took place.
“Segun and I were never married. We didn’t do any introduction. He didn’t meet my parents. He only knew one of my sister’s friends who was living in Lagos,” she said.
Omowunmi and Segun have two children together, which had for years fuelled the assumption that they were husband and wife. However, she clarified that though they were in a relationship, it did not lead to marriage.
The actress also addressed rumours and criticisms she has faced online, especially after her separation from Segun and her alleged ties to Lagos transport boss MC Oluomo.
“I’m not a bad person. They should stop painting me as one. People have no idea what I went through. I want to live my life in peace,” she said emotionally.
Omowunmi further alleged that Segun was unfaithful during their time together, describing him as a “serial cheat”. She accused him of molesting her female workers and forcing some to terminate pregnancies while they lived under her roof.
Despite their differences, the actress said she holds no grudge against Segun, adding that he is doing well in life just as she is. She also revealed she has launched a YouTube channel and encouraged fans to subscribe and support her movie work.
The two caused a stir in May 2024 when they were spotted together at an event, fuelling speculation of reconciliation. However, neither has confirmed being back together.
Segun Ogungbe, who is the nephew of late veteran actor Akin Ogungbe, is married to another actress Atinuke Ogungbe, with whom he also has children.
