The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) was held in grand style at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, celebrating the very best in African film and television.

The 2025 AMVCA, a prestigious event organized by MultiChoice, recognized outstanding achievements in storytelling, production, and performance across the continent. This year’s ceremony drew a wide array of celebrities, industry veterans, and rising stars, all gathered to honour excellence in African cinema.

Big Wins for “Seven Doors” and “Lisabi: The Uprising”

Among the night’s biggest winners was Seven Doors, a gripping drama that earned Femi Adebayo the award for Best Lead Actor and Chioma Chukwuka Best Lead Actress. The film also took home the award for Best Score/Music, cementing its status as a standout production.

Lateef Adedimeji’s Lisabi: The Uprising was another dominant force, winning Best Indigenous Language Film (West Africa), Best Art Direction, and Best Makeup, among others.

Mercy Aigbe was honoured with Best Supporting Actress for her role in Farmer’s Bride, while Gabriel Afolayan won Best Supporting Actor for his performance in Inside Life.

“Freedom Way” Wins Best Movie

The highly anticipated Best Movie category went to Freedom Way, which also secured the award for Best Writing in a Movie (Blessing Uzzi), showcasing its powerful narrative and execution.

Celebrating Industry Icons and New Talent

This year’s Trailblazer Award went to director Kayode Kasumu, while the Industry Merit Award was presented to Nollywood veterans Sani Ma’zu and Nkem Owoh for their lifelong contributions to African cinema.
