Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, has praised the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for rejecting efforts by certain groups and individuals to recall her from the Senate.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Akpoti-Uduaghan lauded INEC for upholding justice and refusing to succumb to what she described as “undemocratic elements” within Kogi State and the Senate.

Her response follows INEC’s declaration that the recall petition failed to meet constitutional requirements and would no longer be processed.

The Senator also took a swipe at former Governor Yahaya Bello, accusing him and his allies of attempting to undermine democracy.

“God has put to shame the anti-democratic forces plotting my recall, including one of the most wanted persons by the EFCC, former Governor Yahaya Bello,” she said. “INEC has proven to be truly independent, and history will remember this moment as a victory for democracy.”

She further vowed to continue her fight for justice and the rights of the people, insisting that those who rely on manipulation and violence in Kogi politics “have their days numbered.”
