The Ogun State Police Command has dismissed controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, over his claim of undergoing psychiatric treatment, insisting that he must submit himself for investigation.
The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, reaffirmed that the singer remains a wanted individual in connection with the alleged assault on government officials.
“Portable will come and submit himself. He cannot be in the psychiatric hospital in Aro. Everybody knows he is a wanted person. If he is in any facility, the police must be informed. He is a wanted man,” Odutola stated.
Background
Portable had, in a video on Tuesday, claimed he was a “madman” receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta. He made this statement while pleading with Nigerians and the Ogun State Government after the police declared him wanted.
However, the police remain resolute in their pursuit, maintaining that he must face the law for his alleged crime.
The Allegations
The singer was declared wanted after a violent altercation with three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office during an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
The assaulted officials TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi, reported that Portable led a gang of nine thugs, allegedly armed, to attack them after they questioned his father over an approved building plan.
With the police maintaining their stance, all eyes are on Portable to see whether he will surrender or continue evading arrest.
