The Nigeria Police Force has strongly condemned the violence that erupted in Osun State on Monday, promising to bring all perpetrators to justice.

In a statement signed by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace in the state and holding responsible parties accountable for the unrest.
Action by IGP to Restore Order
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of additional tactical squads to Osun to bolster security and restore order. The IGP also issued a stern warning to individuals and groups instigating violence, emphasizing that the police will not tolerate lawlessness, hooliganism, or anarchy.
Security Assurance and Consequences for Perpetrators
The police assured residents that those responsible for the violence will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The statement further condemned the disruption of peace, including property destruction and the loss of innocent lives.
The police also reminded citizens that violence undermines democracy and poses a threat to the wellbeing of residents. They called for calm, urging the public to go about their lawful activities as efforts to restore normalcy continue.
Call for Respecting the Judiciary and the Rule of Law
In light of the ongoing political tensions, the police reaffirmed the judiciary as the final authority in all electoral disputes. Political leaders and citizens were encouraged to respect judicial rulings and uphold democratic principles.
The police emphasized their commitment to monitoring the situation closely and ensuring a safe environment for all residents in Osun and across the country.
