Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface is back in training with Bayer Leverkusen after his highly anticipated €15m-per-season move to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr fell through.

Victor Boniface, who was left out of Leverkusen’s squad for their UEFA Champions League fixture, shared a picture from the club’s training session on Thursday, signaling his return to action.

Although negotiations between Leverkusen and Al Nassr advanced swiftly, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Saudi club ultimately backed out.

“Victor Boniface and Al Nassr, deal off. The Nigerian striker won’t join the club; the deal was advanced but never done as Al Nassr never gave the final green light,” Romano posted on X.

Leverkusen had agreed to sell Boniface for €60m—€10m more than their initial asking price of €50m. However, Al Nassr shifted their focus back to Aston Villa’s John Duran, finalizing a €77m deal for the Colombian striker instead.

Boniface, who joined Leverkusen for €20m in 2023, remains a key player for the Bundesliga side. Last season, he was instrumental in their domestic double-winning campaign, scoring 21 goals and providing 10 assists in 34 appearances.

This season, he has registered eight goals and one assist in 15 games but has been sidelined with a thigh injury since November 2024. With his future still uncertain, Leverkusen could still entertain offers if a club meets their valuation of the Nigerian forward.
