Wives of prominent Nigerian leaders celebrated the arrival of the first babies born on New Year’s Day 2025 with hospital visits, gifts, and goodwill messages.

FCT: Representing the First Lady, Mrs. Nana Shettima, wife of the Vice President, welcomed Abuja’s first baby, Favour Stephen-Odion, at the Asokoro District Hospital. Born at 12:27 a.m., the 3.6kg baby received gifts, including post-natal care products and cash.

Mrs. Shettima also presented birth certificates and congratulated other mothers, emphasizing the importance of exclusive breastfeeding and immunization.

Lagos State: Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, wife of the Lagos State Governor, celebrated three first New Year’s Day Babies across Ikorodu, Ifako-Ijaiye, and Isolo general hospitals. Baby Olaolu (2.75kg), Twins Osayomi, and Baby Lawal received gifts and goodwill, symbolizing hope for the year ahead.

Kwara State: Ambassador Olufolake Abdulrazaq, Kwara First Lady, welcomed three New Year’s Day Babies at the state teaching hospital. Represented by the Women Affairs Commissioner, she congratulated the families and emphasized the state government’s commitment to healthcare.

Anambra State: Dr. Nonye Soludo visited the General Hospital, Nnobi, to celebrate the birth of a 2.4 kg baby boy and a 4kg baby girl in Ekwulobia. She praised health workers and encouraged mothers to embrace exclusive breastfeeding.

Rivers State: Lady Valerie Fubara, wife of Rivers State Governor, visited UPTH and RSUTH to celebrate babies like Little Miss Jaja and others, providing gifts and reassurance of continued support for vulnerable families.

Across the states, these gestures towards New Year’s Day Babies 2025 underscore a shared commitment to healthcare, family welfare, and the symbolic importance of new beginnings.
