Prominent Islamic scholar and preacher Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello has passed away at the age of 84. His death was announced on Friday by Sheikh Akewugbagold Taofeek, an Ibadan-based cleric, through a heartfelt Facebook post.

In his post, Sheikh Akewugbagold expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the revered scholar:

“Today is one of my saddest days! My father and mentor has returned to his creator… Our hearts are full of grief and our eyes full of tears, but we will say nothing but what will please our Creator.”

Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, known as the Sultonul Wahizeen (Sultan of Preachers) of Yorubaland, was a fearless advocate for Islamic teachings and spiritual growth. Born in 1940 into the Bello family of Arolu Compound, Ita Olukoyi, Ibadan, he left an indelible mark on the Muslim community across Yorubaland and beyond.

Family and Community Reactions

His son, Alhaji Basit Olanrewaju Katibi Bello, popularly called Aponle Anobi, also confirmed the news with an emotional social media post featuring crying emojis alongside a picture of the late Sheikh.

Legacy

Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello’s fearless sermons and dedication to preaching the word of Allah made him a highly respected figure in Islamic scholarship. His passing is a significant loss to the Muslim community, and tributes continue to pour in from across the nation.

May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and comfort his loved ones during this time of grief.
