Actor-turned-politician Desmond Elliot has finally addressed allegations about his sexuality.
In a recent interview on TVC, Desmond dismissed the claims, calling them baseless and not worth his response.
“Why would I respond to an allegation that neither increases nor decreases my life?” he asked.
A controversial blogger Gistlover included Desmond on a list of public figures who practise homosexuality, sparking debate.
Speaking further about it, the 50-year-old said: “It’s an opinion someone has conceived. For me to come out and say it’s true or not isn’t necessary as long as I’m affecting people positively.”
Refuting the allegation, he said: “I am not gay.”
The Surulere lawmaker also expressed concern over the unchecked influence of bloggers, urging the government to consider regulating platforms like Gistlover that, he argued, thrive on personal attacks and unfounded rumours.
The blogger earlier claimed to have “damning” evidence and witnesses to back its allegations.
Many of those named quickly moved to defend their reputations.
