Only God knows when this fight started and not even their mum could settle it before she passed on recently.
Maybe their friends should know what went down between the brothers, anyways.
But it’s very obvious that the Afolayan brothers—Kunle and Aremu are keeping malice and hardly interact with each other.
Kunle and Aremu are estranged although they have the same father and mother.
Moreover, the two are yet to work on a film together.
“That’s one of the unfulfilled dreams of their 81-year-old mother Omoladun Afolayan before her demise last Saturday,” a reliable source exclusively told Kemi Ashefon.
“She must have made attempts to settle whatever caused the fight between her two sons but they were adamant. They hardly talk to each other. Maybe now that their mum is late, they would sheathe the sword and plan a proper burial for their mum.”
Aremu, known for his comic skits and posts on Instagram is the younger of the two brothers. He has succeeded in making a brand of his name and craft on social media with comic relief. Not seen in any of Kunle’s movies, he seems contented with whatever he does for a living.
Kunle, on the other hand is a director/producer and has clinched some international deals in filmmaking. Kunle, whose marriage crumbled a few years back, has been a staunch supporter of his kids who he wouldn’t hesitate to post their progress on his social media account.
He was the first to announce their mum’s death last Saturday and posted a video which included a collection of photos capturing moments shared with his mother, siblings and other family members.
Aremu’s photo was absent.
Expressing sorrow and gratitude, Kunle reflected on her life, writing: “It is hard to accept, but she surely lived a good life.”
He added, “Our mother, Maami Omoladun Ayanladun Afolayan, has gone to rest (1943–2024). She’s survived by her children and grandchildren. Please keep us in your prayers. Omo re a gbeyin gbogbo wa. Ire.”
Meanwhile, Kunle’s estranged brother, Aremu, also took to Instagram to mourn his mum in a separate post.
He wrote, “Maami…… Rest well. May the Lord in his mercy grant you happiness wherever you maybe. I love you.”
The late Madam Omoladun Afolayan who celebrated her 80th birthday in April 2023 was married to late thespian Adelove, who died many years ago
Messages of condolence have been pouring in from fans, friends and colleagues across the entertainment industry.
Actor Femi Adebayo commented, “Wao! My brother, please accept my condolences. So sorry, Omo Iya.”
Actor Dele Odule also offered his sympathy writing, “Mama goodnight. Kunle, accept my sincere condolence; the Lord is your strength.”
Actress Toyin Abraham expressed her support with, “Awwww. Pele egbon me.”
Chioma Akpotha added, “My deepest condolences.”
Kunle’s brother Gabriel Afolayan also shared his grief on social media, posting photos of moments with his mother.
Gabriel wrote, “Home is not cool. We lost a very dear one. You’d be greatly missed, big mummy (iya Oyo). We all love you to bits. I will miss my gist and dance partner. Rest on #maami 🕊️. Big love to my sibs @kunleafo @aremumimostwantedlikecrudeoil.”
Their brother Aremu Afolayan posted a video tribute showcasing special moments with their mother.
He captioned the video, “Maami… Rest well. May the Lord, in His mercy, grant you happiness wherever you may be. I love you.”
