For Dimeji Ajibola, the acclaimed Nigerian filmmaker behind the popular series “Shanty Town”, his sun set at dawn.

He died on Sunday November 3, 2024 after battling an undisclosed illness, leaving a void in the Nigerian film industry and among his global fans.

His colleague, Samuel Olatunji disclosed this in a message he sent to @goldmynetv, confirming the news.

Ajibola was celebrated as a creative force and a visionary in the entertainment industry, blending traditional and digital art forms in groundbreaking ways.

His work spanned film, animation, VFX, virtual worlds, and interactive media.

He held a diverse educational background, having studied filmmaking and cinematography at the New York Film Academy in Universal Studios, advanced character animation at Animation Mentor in San Francisco, and visual effects at VFXLearning.

Meanwhile, popular Nigerian actor, Bolanle Ninalowo, expressed shock and sorrow on his  Instagram page on Sunday.

In a heartfelt Instagram post, Ninalowo shared a touching tribute, writing, “I love you brother and I will miss you @dimejiajibola. May God heal your family & loved ones. Till we meet again didi vox ❤️ Rest on CHAMP .”

Ninalowo’s post drew responses from fans, friends, and colleagues who mourned the late filmmaker.

One follower, @ayo_nko, commented, “What a life… May God forgive him and rest his soul,” while another, @ejikeasiegbu, shared, “Sad to hear this! Rest in the Lord’s bosom.”

Other well-wishers offered condolences and words of comfort. @oluyemi5314 wrote, “May his gentle soul rest in peace,” and @officialprincess_zita added, “May the soul of the departed rest in peace.”

Though it is not clear from Ninalowo’s post whether Ajibola was battling an illness, several fans, including @adegokeilerioluwa_adeyi, asked if he had been sick prior to his passing.

The unexpected loss has left many in the Nollywood community and beyond deeply saddened, as they share memories and prayers for the late actor.
