The Court of Appeal in Abuja has invalidated the election of Senator Ishaku Abbo, who represented Adamawa North Senatorial District in the National Assembly. Senator Abbo is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In the court’s ruling, Senator Abbo’s election was voided, and the court declared Amos Yohanna of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the rightful winner of the election.
Senator Abbo confirmed the court’s decision to the media.
He had initially won his re-election in the National Assembly election that took place on February 25, 2023.
In the election, he was declared the winner with 71,927 votes, while Amos Yohanna, the PDP candidate, came second with 61,895 votes, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The court’s decision to invalidate Senator Abbo’s election means that Amos Yohanna will replace him as the senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District.
