Kano State, located in Northwest Nigeria, has been placed under a 24-hour curfew in the wake of a judgment by the election petitions tribunal that nullified the victory of the state governor, Abba Yusuf.

The State Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, has announced the imposition of the curfew through an official statement to the press.

According to the statement, a joint team of security personnel has been deployed throughout the city to enforce the curfew.

This curfew will be in effect starting from 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, until 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 21.

The police have emphasized that anyone found in violation of the curfew will be arrested and subjected to legal consequences
