An upper sharia court in Kano State has remanded TikToker Murja Ibrahim Kunya in prison for two weeks for allegedly committing offences contrary to Islamic teachings and threatening public peace.
The 24-year-old appeared before the court presided over by Justice Abdullahi Halliru llast Thursday on a two-count charge bordering on threat to attack some people and releasing inciting videos contrary to Islamic teachings and capable of leading others wrong.
She was planning her birthday party when police arrested her on Saturday over complaints from Islamic clerics who accused her of posting “indecent videos” on TikTok.
Justice Halliru ordered that the former Kannywood actress be remanded in prison and adjourned the case to February 16 for continuation of hearing.
