An Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court on Thursday jailed a 47-year-old school supervisor, Adegboyega Adenekan, for 60 years for defiling a 2-year-old child.

Mr Adenekan was a supervisor at Chrisland School, Victoria Garden City, Lagos when the incident occurred.
This defendant is conscienceless, wicked, an animal, and not fit to walk on the streets. I hereby sentence Adegboyega Adenekan to 60 years’ imprisonment,” Justice Sybil Nwaka said.

The judge warned parents not to be carried away by the aesthetics of schools.

The prosecution had presented seven witnesses, including the pupil and her mother, and closed its case on March 14.

The defence, however, called five witnesses.
Adenekan was arraigned on January 29, 2018, and pleaded not guilty to a charge of child defilement.

The prosecution said he committed the offence sometime in November 2016 at the school.
