In what seems to be a scam alert sent to thousands of ladies who might have thought they could secure a queen’s seat in the ancient city of Ile Ife, this is a salvo from the palace—beware of fake Ooni.
This is coming on the heels of an allegation from a lady who claimed the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi jilted her after promising to make her queen.
The lady, Elizabeth Odunlami, had taken to Facebook on Monday October 22, 2018 and revealed how she dated the Ooni of Ife, who proposed to marry her but dumped her. She claimed the monarch utilized her contacts in the US to roll contracts which ran into millions of dollars.

But in a swift reaction from the Palace in Ile Ife, a statement debunked such association or affair. Signed by the Palace’s media officer, Comrade Moses Olafare, the statement urged young ladies to be wary of a fake Ooni who must have been dating ladies and promising them marriage.
The statement reads:
The attention of The Palace Of Ooni Of Ife has been drawn to a news of one Elizabeth Odunlami(miss) claiming to have been jilted by someone believed to be The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.
While we sympathize with Miss Elizabeth Odunlami(if the identity is real) who obviously has become a victim of a fraudulent act perpetrated by a scammer disguising to be Ooni Ogunwusi, we find it pertinent to debunk this sacrilegious and unfounded allegation which is not unlikely to be another calculated ploy adopted by some unprovoked detractors using pseudo-identities.
Good members of the public especially ladies are hereby cautioned against communicating with anyone presenting himself to be the Ooni Ogunwusi and swiftly report such a matter or person to the relevant security agencies.
