Royalists have defended The Queen and Prince Philip after a new book made sensational claims about their sex life.
Lady Colin Campbell caused offence after she suggested the Queen had a ‘healthy sexual appetite’ and her husband was a ‘flirt’.
The 68-year-old, who was married to the Duke of Argyll’s son Lord Colin Campbell, said the couple had been discussed among their servants after having a wild wedding night in 1947.
When discussing Prince Phillip in the book entitled, The Queen’s Marriage, she wrote: “He loves the company of beautiful women. He’s a huge flirt.
“I don’t know any pretty girl he hasn’t flirted with. He’s flirted with me before. He’s never said anything untoward, he’s just flirtatious.
“The sort of thing he says is, ‘You’re looking good tonight’, but he is a flirt.”
In another section, she claimed Princess Margaret had lied that Philip was cheating to get back at the Queen, which had made her depressed.
But all of her stories, which she apparently learned second hand from a “variety of sources,” have been dismissed as nonsense by supporters of the royal family. Former butler to the royals, Paul Burrell, was having none of it and said: “Anyone can make up these claims. You can only be a true, -reliable witness to history if you are there.
“Lady Colin Campbell was none of those things.”
Her Majesty’s former press secretary, Dickie Arbiter, was not impressed by the book, saying: “I will not dignify anything Lady Colin Campbell writes or says with a comment.”
Author Judy Wade was also suspicious about the stories, saying: “I have never seen Lady Colin Campbell with a member of the Royal Family, or on a job about the Royal Family.”
But Campbell was standing by what she said. She added: “They know I am honest and they’ve known about this book for a while.
“What I have written stands the test of time and if it’s going to come out, it may as well come out through somebody who is even-handed and balanced, and has no anti-Monarchist agenda.”

Charity Aiyedogbon’s Widower Demands N10Billion From Controversial Lawyer, Emeka Ugwuonye
A retired civil servant, Mr David Aiyedogbon, is in court asking for a compensation of N10billion after he was accused of killing his wife on Facebook.
Aiyedogbon approached the FCT High Court, in Apo, seeking N10 billion as damages in a defamation suit instituted against controversial Lagos lawyer, Mr Emeka Ugwuonye, who allegedly accused him of murdering his wife.
Aiyedogbon told the Court, today, that it is defamatory for Ugwuonye to accuse him of the murder of his estranged wife, Charity.
During cross examination, Aiyedogbon told the Court that his son informed him of the alleged defamatory post made on Facebook which led to the suit.
He said, “We were married for 26 years and separated in May 29, 2014, while she was declared missing in May 2016.
“Mr Ugwuonye could not produce any evidence that I murdered my former wife. I filed this suit against the defendant for him to present to the Court his overwhelming evidence of why he called me a murderer.”
Ugwuonye, however, asked David why he could not recognize the dismembered body of his wife since they were married for 26 years.
He said, “I did not have the technical expertise. It was a picture so the claim was not verifiable.
“What steps did you take to confirm that your wife is dead now? The police conducted an investigation and paraded two people who confessed to the crime.”
Aiyedogboh told the Court that he was not aware that his wife indicated on Facebook or any other platform that he wanted to kill her.
He also affirmed that he was not aware that his wife was pregnant in November 2015 and he never sent his children to beg their mother to withdraw any law suit.
“We were married till her death,” he said. “I am not a divorcee. I am a widower.”
After listening to the testimony, Justice Peter Kekemeke adjourned the matter until October 25 for continuation of hearing.
