It was a teary session on Wednesday in Lagos as tributes poured in from friends and family members on the late son of billionaire businessman, Dapo Abiodun.

He was aged 24.

DJ Olu died on Saturday, October 7, 2017 and his corpse was later found in his car alongside another young man, Chime.

His remains were buried today October 12, in Lagos.

The tribute session, which held on Wednesday during the Service of Songs/Tributes Night had the late Disc Jockey’s father, Dapo Abiodun, in attendance. The solemn event took a mournful turn when Abiodun, who is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Heyden Petroleum, spoke about DJ Olu.

He confirmed to have kept asking God why He would allow such tragedy befall him and his family.

Abiodun, who contested for the Ogun East Senatorial seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress but lost to Senator Buruji Kashamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, spoke in glowing terms about his son, DJ Olu.

According to him, his relationship with his late son was quite cordial and they were like buddies.

He said, “We were very close. I remember I would report Olu to my mother and she would say a leaf doesn’t fall far from a tree. I saw him for the last time last week Sunday when we had lunch; Olu was always wanting to please me. He was supposed to go back to Coventry last week for his postgraduate school but he begged me to allow him stay for just one week because he wanted to commission his petrol station and car wash business.

“I begged him to go to school promising him that I would help do everything while he was away but he refused. If he had gone back to school, he wouldn’t have died. I pray that I don’t have to reciprocate this kind of visit to anyone present here.”

Also Speaking at the event was DJ Olu’s mum, Bamidele.

Popularly called DJ Olu, he was a 2016 graduate of the University of Essex, United Kingdom.

Olugbemiga was the first of his parents’ five children. It was gathered that the deceased was already being groomed by his father to take over his business conglomerate. On his Instagram page, DJ Olu had already added CEO, Heyden, to his profile.

May his soul rest in peace.
