For Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi, life takes a new turn as she buries the remains of her only child, Raymond today, Tuesday, September 5, 2017, at the Ikoyi, Lagos cemetery.
He was aged 15.
The funeral service which kicked off at 10.00am, had in attendance the deceased’s mother, Eucharia, who is also an associate pastor of the Fresh Oil Ministry International Church, Lagos.
The deceased, Raymond Ekwu died from complications associated with sickle cell anemia disorder on August 23, 2017.
Present at the funeral were actresses Ini Edo, Stephanie Okereke-Linus, Monalisa Chinda, Rita Dominic, Lillian Bach ,Susan Peters and a host of other guests.
A brief Service of Tribute is ongoing after which the commencement of the interment.
Eucharia married Charles Ekwu in 2000 and the marriage lasted till 2006 before trouble set in. Raymond was the only product of the marriage which ended in a messy divorce. Then, she dragged him to court and slammed her ex husband with a N100 million lawsuit in 2010. The demanded 100m divorce settlement according to Eucharia, was on the grounds of abandonment, irresponsibility and assault.
In her evidence, she also accused Charles and told the court how he beat her up several times, how he had refused to take care of their son Raymond, in spite of his health condition and how she had been the one footing the bills for the boy’s treatment since their relationship packed up.
Speaking with reporters on the child’s death, the actress said, “My son has gone to our place of origin to be with our daddy Jesus, waiting for me when I eventually go there at the fullness of time.
